The COP28 UN climate change summit will take place in the United Arab Emirates from 30 November to 12 December 2023. To mark the occasion, on 6 December, WorldGBC, on behalf of the international green building network, will present an open letter to political leaders and decision-makers at this event. The purpose of the letter is to demonstrate the role of the built environment in the fight against global warming, to ask for the support of policy makers for the actions already taken by GBCs, and to call on them to advocate for the necessary regulatory changes. The importance of the open letter is further underlined by the fact that the building and construction sector is responsible for 37% of global emissions. Although it is becoming increasingly clear to all that buildings and infrastructure are having an impact on the climate emergency, collective action is not strong enough. WGBC believes that a united call is needed to keep the world on track to meet the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C target.
As a member of the HuGBC, Gábor Szarvas, our Managing Director, signed the open letter on behalf of Greenbors.
The letter is available at the following link.
